haha not quite his nick was his name backwards nich olas (salo hcin)
halcyon was one of the 7 sisters in greek mythology, who turned into a bird
it is said she could stop the breeze (she would make the oceans seem like a still pond)
so the halcyon season (7 days before and after the winter solstice) it was unsafe to go out in your boats and what not

the word is now used to explain calm, my mood at the moment, extreme relaxation

haha i think orbital used it in a few ways (weither they ment to or not )
yup i think youll find its a drug, but i think its more like ritalin
for hyper active people (more of a come down type of pill) , which all mixes in with the greek mythology
